What to Bring

On the walk:

  • Comfortable day pack (approx. 30Lt)
  • Heavy duty plastic bag to line pack (and/or a pack cover)
  • Strong and comfortable hiking boots
  • A First Aid Kit including personal medical items
  • Participant’s Emergency Contact and Medical Information form, in a sealed waterproof bag
  • Water
  • Lunch and Snacks (made from items provided)
  • Come prepared for alpine weather and carry appropriate clothing
    • Fleece or warm jacket
    • Raincoat and waterproof over pants
    • Warm and comfortable clothing
    • Sunhat/warm hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Whistle
  • Toilet paper and spade
  • Hand sanitiser and mask
  • Gaiters
  • Walking poles

On Overnight Walk 6

Those on overnight walk Walk 6 -  Bryces Gorge will also need to bring a back pack (approx 45lt) and camping gear comprising:

  • tent
  • sleeping mattress
  • sleeping bag
  • sleeping bag liner
  • pillow (optional)
  • torch or head torch
  • mug, plate, bowl
  • knife, fork, spoon
  • sleeping attire
  • camp shoes
  • change of clothes if desired

For beginners who do not have some of the above items, we may be able to supply them. Please contact us.

To the Venue:

Your own linen:

  • Sleeping bag, or
  • Blankets, or
  • Doona
  • Sheet
  • Pillow
  • Towel
  • Tea towel
  • Lunch box
  • Your favourite snacks and drinks
  • A camp chair, for evenings outside
  • Cash for fuel money to cover carpooling

On Overnight Walks 17 and 21

Those on overnight walks Walk 17 and Walk 21 will need to pack their camping gear (list as per Walk 6) into a suitable bag with name tag. This will be transported to the camp site by members of the Macalister 4WD Touring and Social Club.
